    Pay-what-you-wish for NY State residents and NY/NJ/CT students

    Bring: NY State driver's license, State ID card, IDNYC, NYC library card, current utility bill with NY address, voter registration card, lease or mortgage statement

  2. Library card → Culture Pass

    General admission to all permanent galleries and most special exhibitions

    • The largest art museum in the US. NY residents pay-what-you-wish anyway. The rooftop bar is open seasonally. Allow 4+ hours.

  3. IDNYC — as a membership

    Set up first

    Needs: IDNYC

    Free 1-year membership: free admission to Met Fifth Avenue and Met Cloisters, personalized membership card, emails about exhibitions and select programs

    Worth: $70/year individual membership (also, NYS residents already have pay-what-you-wish admission, but the membership adds benefits)

    1. Get your IDNYC card (must be 18+)
    2. Visit The Met Fifth Avenue or The Met Cloisters in person
    3. Go to the membership desk or admissions
    4. Present your IDNYC card
    5. Receive membership card
